Allow me to introduce Splendid Gentlemen. Having never seen the statistics, I cannot say that they are Scotland’s busiest, best, hardest working or most popular wedding band, but you are probably becoming a little cynical when you hear that now anyway, right? We will, however, go out on a limb here and say that we are definitely, “Scotland’s Most Gentlemanly Band.” They dress in their finest Gentlemen Threads and put on a spontaneous and passionate musical performance of not just the wedding standards that every band should know, but of many other songs from their extensive and constantly expanding repertoire, covering everything from 1950’s rock ’n’ roll to songs which are in the charts right now. Having been a working, professional band since 2010 they are very experienced at what they do and play literally hundreds (yes, plural) of gigs per calendar year.
Synaesthesia inspired, female fronted, Old Bohemia are Otis Ebenhardt and Marie Laveau.
They play music that sounds like an angry Nina Simone got lost in time and grewa up in the angst of the 90's grunge scene.
Their debut EP, Epoch, was well received, selling out on the day of its launch. Tracks made there way to radio stations up and down the country and could be heard on BBC radio 1 and Tom Robinsons BBC Introducing Mixtape.
Old Bohemia established themselves as festival veterans, playing a sold out show at the
Great Alternative Escape, a headline show on the Forrest Stage of Edinburgh Meadows Festival and a closing Saturday night slot at Wickerman festival's Acoustic Village.
They were also heard at Eden festival and Kelburn garden party, Solfest and a whole heap more.
Their second EP 'Astral Giants' dropped on the 8th of July 16 and was performed at their headline show on the acoustic stage Butefest 2016. They also finished by providing the soundtrack to, arguably one of the weekends most memorable moments, the circus fire show finale.
The EP's departure from their acoustic sound was inspired Marie Laveau's synaesthesia, the ability to see colour in sound and was produced, performed and recorded by Old Bohemia. The band completed their first UK headline tour in September 2016, covering over 3,500 miles.
Old Bohemia release their single 'Broken Machine' on the 20th of April 2017 before they embark on their first European tour in collaboration with Sofar sounds in anticipation of their new record at the end of the summer.
