The Katet are Scotland's Shape-Shifting Soulfunk monster. For over seven years, they have held their weekly residency in Edinburgh's prestigious Jazz Bar, Scotland's number one music venue for Jazz, Funk and Soul. The band steals the best of all three genres, creating a hybrid that Stevie Wonder himself wouldn't mess with. Led by singer, composer and keyboardist Mike Kearney, the band not only possess an impressive backlog of hits, but have also developed their own improvisation language using musical hand-signals. Their aggressive combination of deep groove, airtight horns, intricate composition, heartfelt lyrics and Kung-Fu conducting will leave any audience floored. The Katet have long forgotten how to disappoint. 2015 has seen The Katet back in the studio: working closely with engineer extraordinaire, Garry Boyle, the band have produced the very best 10 tracks that they can offe. As is usually the case with The Katet, the new album will be an eclectic mix of songs, ranging from dark, heavy rock to straight-laced funk to orchestral jazz epics.
